Finding the key settings
The split tunneling app list sits right beside the protocol picker; a ticked app takes your ordinary connection. Lower on that screen is the kill switch, and on Plus or Pro the blocking toggles appear there as well.
Want one-tap control? Put the CoxVPN tile in Quick Settings, pull the shade down and tap it.
Making the VPN permanent
In Android Settings, go to Network & internet > VPN and tap the cog next to CoxVPN. Switch on Always-on VPN. Pair it with Block connections without VPN, and the whole phone goes quiet whenever the tunnel drops.
A handful of apps refuse VPN addresses, for example some banking apps and delivery apps that verify your location. Mark just those few for split tunneling and keep the rest covered.
The tunnel switches itself off
Certain phone brands kill background apps hard to stretch battery life, and the VPN dies with them. In CoxVPN's battery settings, choose Unrestricted so the system leaves it alone.
Installation stuck on an unknown apps warning? Allow the browser that downloaded the file to install apps. You can take that permission away again when you're done.
