What should I do before leaving?
Our apps haven't been released yet. When they are, install them on your home connection rather than on hotel Wi-Fi. Accounts with an active VPN pass will find them in My info > Get the apps.
Do a trial run at home: log in on every gadget going in your bag and hit connect once. A Basic pass runs 6 devices at the same time, enough for a phone, a laptop and a tablet with slots to spare.
- Buy the VPN pass (cart, then balance)
- Once the apps are released, install them and sign in with your email or token on each device
- Turn the kill switch on before you go
Are airport and hotel networks safe?
A hotel often hands the same Wi-Fi password to every room, and plenty of airports use no password at all. Switch CoxVPN on as soon as you join, so your apps never start out unprotected.
Expect a welcome screen asking for a room number or a tick box. Clear that page with the VPN off, then connect. If the tunnel still won't come up, change to OpenVPN TCP.
How do I reach my bank from abroad?
Back home, a bank, a tax office site or an online shop may refuse a login from abroad, or ask for extra proof. Dial in to a server in your own country and the login looks local.
Strict services like a steady pattern, so keep the same server from departure to return. A Pro pass goes further: its dedicated IP, placed in one of 10 countries, never changes while you hop between cities.
Is a VPN legal where I'm going?
Not everywhere. Some countries limit VPNs and a few ban them, so look up the rules for your destination and follow them.
On networks that filter tunnels, OpenVPN TCP gets through most often. Some networks block everything, though, and we can't promise a connection on those.
