No logs: your online activity is never written down

While you are connected, all of your traffic flows through a CoxVPN server. So the question that matters is what that server records. On activity, our servers keep a blank page. This page lists what we leave out and the few account details the service needs to work.

What do the VPN servers record about me?

Zero activity records. A server forwards your packets and forgets them. It keeps no list of sites or apps, no copy of content, and no history of the answers our DNS gave.

Your original address and the times you connect and disconnect are left out too. Without them, there is no way on our side to link a connection back to a person.

  • Every page loaded and every app opened
  • Packet contents
  • DNS queries
  • The IP address your provider assigned you
  • When a session starts and ends, and how long it lasts

Do I have to give personal details to sign up?

No. You can sign up with an email and a password of at least 8 characters, or with an account token alone. Neither option asks for your name or phone number.

We do not send any email, which means no address check and no password reset. If you lose the password or the token, it cannot be recovered. Save it in a password manager the day you sign up.

Then what is stored on my account?

Logins are checked against one-way hashes. Email accounts keep the email and a hash of the password. Token accounts keep a hash of the token and its last 4 characters, plus one encrypted copy whose only use is matching top-ups to the right account. The IP you signed up from is also kept as a hash, and its only job is the limit of 3 accounts per IP.

Besides that, we keep your balance with its top-ups and orders, the end date of each VPN pass, a marker for each connected device that disappears when it disconnects, and your messages to us. Accounts with proxy orders also hold the proxy username, password and any allowed IPs.

What can a no-logs VPN not protect?

Your provider and the owner of the Wi-Fi cannot read what travels through the tunnel. Your accounts are another matter. When you sign in to a site, it knows it is you.

A tunnel leaves cookies and tracking scripts untouched. Plus and Pro filter some of them, and stricter privacy settings in your browser catch more.

Common questions

Has anyone independent verified this?

There has been no external audit so far. Treat this page as a description of current practice. The privacy policy is what actually binds us.

I forgot my password. Can you reset it?

We cannot. No reset mail exists in our system, and a hash cannot be turned back into your password. The same goes for a lost token.

What is the sign-up IP hash used for?

It enforces one rule: at most 3 accounts from a single IP. With a hash we can tell whether two sign-ups came from the same IP without storing the address.
